Reinventing your culture for success in the new world

Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.

Warren Bennis

Are you dedicating enough time and energy to nurture your teams? If not, delegate their guidance with coaching and focus on strengthening the core elements of your organization’s culture. To achieve this, identify the key aspects to reinforce and take action! For some, it will be primarily about team engagement, the ability to attract and retain young talents, fostering creativity, or managing resources in line with the Paris Agreement. The crucial part is to structure an action plan and dive in!

  1. Key culture elements I want to strengthen

Currently, a priority for one of my clients is centered around excellence, fostering creativity, and enhancing team engagement, all while reinforcing performance development. Fortunately, there are numerous forms of guidance to accelerate the transformation of your key collaborators. Just as a climbing party needs an experienced leader to reach the summit, a leader may require assistance to support their key collaborators in achieving their ambitious goals.

  1. Development coaching

This is the coaching that I engage in most frequently. It is particularly effective in supporting the coachee who needs to assume new responsibilities or undergo a significant change in their approach, such as taking on a new role, changing functions or scope, receiving a promotion, starting a new project, or facing a new leadership challenge.
Together, we journey to provide support and encouragement, aiming to identify potential obstacles, develop or reinforce necessary skills, and update strategies for success. In today’s world, the pursuit of perfection is not the priority. What is essential is continuous improvement and the quest for excellence, whether it’s in the quality of products, services, or operations.

  1. Performance coaching

Increasingly, my clients express the need to enhance their performance in specific areas such as leadership, decision-making, priority management, goal tracking, or even public speaking. This demand has become recurrent, as mastering these key skills has grown strategic for my clients.

At times, their lack of self-confidence, “impostor syndrome”, or a poorly experienced setback hinders them. Together, we delve deep to remove these barriers or update the beliefs that prevent them from progressing further or reaching greater heights.

Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.

  1. Transition coaching

How to succeed in important transitions in your professional or personal life? Indeed, learning to navigate effectively through these periods of uncertainty using tools and strategies to manage the challenges associated with these changes can prove crucial.

Clarifying goals, identifying potential obstacles, and developing concrete action plans to successfully navigate a transition are pivotal during a career change, taking on a significant role, organizational restructuring, mergers or acquisitions, relocation or expatriation, retirement, or any other situation of significant change.

Once again, I intervene to support my client in gaining perspective and finding meaning in this new situation in their professional or personal life.

  1. Leadership development coaching

A crystal ball is not a recognized tool to assist a leader in making the informed and thoughtful decisions expected of them. Therefore, having the ability to clarify priorities, evaluate available options, explore potential consequences, identify beliefs and barriers that might hinder their ability to make effective decisions can be pivotal for their future and that of their organization!

I particularly recall the case of a leader who was facing the choice of revealing his homosexuality to establish his authenticity. He approached me to assess his options before making a decision. His informed and embraced choice to present his truth had a significant impact on his collaborators, who saw him as a leader inspiring trust and respect.

  1. Crisis coaching

I am increasingly being sought after to address this type of issue! This coaching is tailored for emergency situations to provide support to individuals experiencing a serious crisis, such as the loss of a major contract, a sudden shift in the environment, a relational conflict, or instances of workplace violence…

My role is to assist my clients in managing the challenges and difficulties associated with the crisis by offering perspective and determining actions and decisions to implement in order to handle it effectively.

  1. Resolution coaching

How to best overcome the obstacles or challenges that we all encounter at some point in our personal and/or professional lives? Identifying the problems and challenges we face allows us to find practical solutions and develop a concrete action plan based on these solutions.

Resolution coaching can be employed to address a variety of issues such as stress management, interpersonal conflicts, procrastination, lack of motivation, time management, decision-making, communication, career management, lack of self-confidence, difficulty asserting oneself, ‘fear of success,’ and more.

These internal barriers can be inappropriate or disproportionate emotions (fear, anger…), limiting beliefs, automatic thoughts, cognitive biases, etc. I then assist in gaining perspective to see things from a new angle. This subsequently enables exploring new options and making informed decisions to regain agency in one’s life.

  1. Support coaching

Often utilized to assist in overcoming personal or professional challenges during a period of individual vulnerability, such as grief, bore-out, burnout, or the failure of a key project, this coaching aids in enhancing emotional well-being, strengthening self-confidence, and better managing emotions to regain momentum and vitality.

In some cases, I recommend complementary therapeutic approaches such as sophrology or cognitive-behavioral therapies. As a coach, it’s my responsibility to ensure that the coachee can address the personal aspect with the appropriate professional, in a fair and suitable framework.

  1. Meaning coaching

I am particularly interested in this type of coaching as it allows both individuals and teams to explore their career choices by seeking coherence with their personal needs and guiding values.

Working towards becoming more aware of existential needs, such as the need for meaning, belonging, personal fulfillment, and growth, has become widespread since the COVID crisis. Increasingly, people are reflecting on their decisions, which might have been guided by external pressures, societal expectations, or seized opportunities rather than their own personal vision.

Exploring one’s professional identity, self-perception, and connection to spirituality can also trigger a need for professional adjustment or change. In this case, I work with my client to find a new balance between their deep aspirations, personal needs, and the professional context they operate in.

  1. Mentoring

The mentor role has taken on an increasingly significant role in my practice as a coaching supervisor. Sharing my knowledge and experience to pass it on to my coachee or supervisee adds a great deal of purpose to my work and often allows us to save time in our coaching or supervisory space. The transmission of knowledge, whether in training or mentoring settings, is also essential for the transformation of a corporate culture.

  1. Facilitation

I regularly employ facilitation for my clients in group coaching or seminar facilitation. In this role, I step in to guide the work process. To do so, I first create a framework, a positive and safe working environment where everyone can express themselves freely and share their ideas. I remind you that collective intelligence is correlated with equal speaking time and the psychological safety established by the facilitator. Additionally, being willing to address conflicts is crucial for strengthening team cohesion by defining appropriate regulatory measures.

  1. Supervision (executive reflection)

Leading teams in an increasingly complex environment represents a significant challenge for a leader. Even though their experience and talents help them gain perspective, the solitude associated with their role is often challenging. Being accompanied by a sparring partner, such as a supervisor, becomes a true asset, adding value. Together, we will create a space that allows for stepping back and analyzing their practice with fewer biases than when self-reflecting.

In fact, it’s often through verbalizing a complex situation and responding to a few questions that one can clarify their issues and determine the right approach to implementing solutions or an action plan.

Succeeding in your Everest means accelerating the transformation of your culture to align with the ‘why’ and the ‘how.’ Let’s go the extra mile that still separates you from your full success!
